From each part's signal to a shared view of production.

Digital machine monitoring with a suite of applications: stoppage detection, reason classification, line-side visual management, area overview and production reports.

The challenge

Understand what happens at each machine and establish a shared reference for monitoring production, understanding stoppages and analysing losses.

The implemented solution

The produced-part signal is the starting point. Time between signals allows cycle deviations and stoppages to be detected. The operator classifies the reason, feeding line monitors, the area overview, OEE calculations and reports.

Capture

From the machine to the production record

An IoT device with one or two digital inputs captures the produced-part signal. Using Ethernet or Wi-Fi, it sends events via HTTP POST for recording in Azure SQL Server.

Understand

Detect a stoppage and give it context

The system detects stoppages from deviations in cycle time. At the line-side terminal, the operator selects a reason: breakdown, changeover, material shortage or other plant-defined causes.

Analyse

From line-side information to production analysis

Information is displayed at the line and consolidated for the area. The analysis application provides OEE and its components — availability, performance and quality — alongside trends and production reports.

One source of information, at different levels

  • At the line

Status, production and targets visible at the workstation.

  • Across the area

A consolidated view of the fittings machines.

  • For management

OEE and reports to analyse the process and guide improvements.
